What is voting by proxy?
Voting by proxy is when you ask someone else to vote on your behalf.
Who can apply for a proxy vote?
Only those with a specific reason such as a disability or living overseas can apply to vote by proxy on a long-term basis.
To vote by proxy for just one election, you must have a reason – eg you will be on holiday and you must apply by 5pm on 25th April.
However, if you become ill after this time, you can apply to vote by proxy for medical reasons up until 5pm on polling day.
