How does the count work?
The count is managed locally by Returning Officers.
There are 2 different voting systems being used - AMS for Scottish Parliamentary elections and STV for local elections. Found out more in the section about voting systems.
The Count will be conducted electronically.
How can I find out about attending the count?
There are new rules in place at this election for people who wish to observe the counts and other parts of the electoral process. Contact the
Electoral Commission to find out more.
How can I find out about working at the count?
You need to contact your the Returning Officer’s staff at your Council to find out.
When are the results announced?
This will depend on the individual areas and Returning Officers. The counting of votes will commence after the close of poll on Thursday evening. If you would like to find out what happens in your area, contact the Returning Officer’s staff at your Council.
