Councils and Council Wards
The introduction of Single Transferable Vote (STV) necessitates significant changes to council ward boundaries.
The new wards will be larger than current single-member wards and will be represented by either three or four members. They are now known as multi-member wards.
The Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland (LGBCS) recently carried out a review of ward boundaries in all 32 council areas in Scotland.
These reviews have been considered by Scottish Ministers and, with a small number of changes, have been put into force for the elections on 3rd May 2007.
